era modules group id

Postby keeling58 » Wed Apr 19, 2017 10:24 am

As sales of our weight telemetry systems increase a distributor has asked if we can expand the number of units that can operate in near proximity. At present I allow 99 ID settings , 1 to 30 ids change channel frequency and then in order to retain frequency compliance 31 to 99 re use the available frequencies and rely on the id number alone to discard non matching id transmissions. The question is would it be better to use the group id setting and would this allow for more units to operate in an area.

The group ID (default 1234) enables independent networks to operate locally. However if they are on the same frequency channel they will see data from different group IDs but will ignore that data as it doesn't have the same Group ID number at the start of the payload. Also if different group ID transmitters send data at the same time on the same frequency channel they will clash and some data will become corrupted. It depends on how often and how long each transmission is going to be. If it is infrequent transmission then using the same frequency and different group IDs will probably be more than adequate.

I hope this helps.
