Putting eRA Connect2 Pi to work in RaspberryPi - Java

Postby luizalmeida » Tue Nov 12, 2013 9:42 pm

Hi everyone.

I've got a Raspberry Pi running the latest Raspbian distro (2013-09-25-wheezy-raspbian).
I've got too a pair of eRA Connect2 Pi.
When I insert one of these in the Raspberry Pi USB interface, the Raspberry recognize it as a /dev/ttyUSB0 interface (no problem here).
As a Java developer, I made two programs. One sends data and the another receives data.
I'm using the Java library JSSC to connect through to the serial interface. (see https://code.google.com/p/java-simple-serial-connector/)
It works fine if I have the eRA Connect2 Pi modules running over Windows.

The modules settings are:
- baudrate = 9600;
- data bits = 8;
- parity = None;
- stop bits = 1;

Unfortunately, I can not put these modules to working on Raspberry Pi and/or Ubuntu.
The data received is always different from the data sent.
I don't have too much experience on Linux.
Can someone help me?
Best regards,

Luiz Almeida

Hi Luiz,

It does sound like an issue with Ubuntu as you can run these Connect2 Pis through Windows OS. I did a little research on the Raspberry Pi site and somebody there had had a working USB dongle and then it stopped working after a new update. It's one avenue of thought.
